Time: four years after 9/11

As the Iraq war crisis reaches the boiling point, the Army dishonorably discharges Kris Klug. He returns home to piece together whatever is left of his private life.

Hoping to find gainful employment with his Uncle Fred, Klug meets him in Malibu. Uncle Fred built a prosperous trucking company, hauling goods between L.A. and Vegas. Ready to retire, he’s eager to pass the business over to his nephew.

FBI agent Jaeger informs Kris that his uncle may be trafficking drugs on the side and suspects his suppliers are members of a Islamist gang led by Azzimi. When Azzimi hears about Fred’s plan to retire, he sends his thugs after him. Fred vanishes.

Unaware that Fred disappeared, Kris Klug arrives in LAX to fly to Vegas and begin work with Uncle Fred.
LAX is overcrowded with business travelers to Comdex, world’s largest hi-tech conference. When his flight is canceled, Klug takes a bus with 12 other passengers, including a cokehead that Azzimi’s thugs hunt down for reneging on a drug deal.

Just as Klug finally starts a conversation with an intriguing classical dancer, Sheila, the thugs hijack the bus and drive it deep into the Mojave Desert in search of the stolen drug money. Klug gets a chance to help all the passengers escape, but now they must survive in the broiling Mojave while the thugs track them down. When Klug learns that Azzimi’s gang plans to dirty-bomb Las Vegas, crowded with conference visitors, the challenge pushes his limits.
